Knife – Н10 - Philadelphia

This knife was manufactured at the Zlatoust plant weapons-grade speciality steel, modelled on Japanese weapons. The Japanese people had little influence on the work of Zlatoust's gunsmiths. Still, Zlatoust's craftsmen had to communicate with Japanese people. In 1876, the Centennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia in the USA brought together representatives of weapons schools from Europe and Asia. To commemorate this meeting, a Japanese knife was made in Zlatoust.

«The Japanese people have always hidden their talents and skills, striking Europeans with the end result. Their weapons were invincible for many years, thanks to the qualities of metal. Their jewellery was a delight for eyes and captivated the heart. But some masters created a miracle - blades as beautiful as the Japanese ones. They came from far away from Russia, from the city of Zlatoust, and in no test, their blades were inferior to the blades of the Land of the Rising Sun».
Philadelphia, 1876.

Restored according to sketches, presumably created for the album drawings for the "Technical Cabinet" of the Zlatoust weapon factory.
