This Damascus knife is made at the Zlatoust plant weapons-grade speciality steel. It is similar to the knives of American Special Forces. Its main feature is that, in addition to its combat characteristics, it can be used in extreme situations. Models of knives from English gunsmiths, refined and modernised, served as a prototype.
«This was already the second World's Columbian Exposition to be held in the United States. We were told that America has a very responsible attitude to the choice of weapons. Not only successful hunting depends on a reliable blade, but also survival, the life of the owner himself, or even his entire family. This is why Zlatoust knives were given special attention; the reliability of the metal, the convenient shape of the blade and the handle attracted customers. But the locals were able to give some advice and talk a lot about knives suitable for these harsh places. This was how trial samples appeared in the Zlatoust collection.». Chicago-Zlatoust, 1893.
Restored according to sketches, presumably created for the album drawings for the "Technical Cabinet" of the Zlatoust weapon factory.
